Yangon, 12 September 2017: United Amara Bank (uab) Limited, one of the Myanmar’s largest private banks, today announced the launch of its first suite of credit cards with Visa in Myanmar.
Three types of Visa Credit Card will be offered; Classic, Gold and Platinum.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Christopher Loh, uab’s Special Advisor to the Chairman said, “With the launch of uab Visa Credit Cards, our customers can now shop and travel with uab, giving them the convenience of cashless payments and many discounts and benefits with participating merchants both locally and overseas.
Mr.Arturo Planell, Visa Country Manager, Myanmar said, “Greater access to financial products such as Visa credit cards will enable uab customers to pay with greater confidence at home and abroad.uab Visa cardholders can tap into the same security standard, unparalleled convenience, and global acceptance enjoyed by millions of other Visa cardholders worldwide.”

This new milestone will deepen our Retail Banking presence and together with other new initiatives that uab is planning will bring significant new value to the market and our customers.”
These credit cards have been designed around the needs of customers who are travelling, making over-the-counter or on-line payments. Besides the convenience, credit cards are useful especially for emergencies and unforeseen events, though cardholders should use their credit cards responsibly and within budget at all times.

These cards are designed to help the customer get more benefits not available when using cash for payments. The Credit Cards also has special features for fraud prevention and features to avoid the card getting worn out with regular use.
uab Visa credit cards will also allow customers to plan their finances and payments may be made in full or through an easy payment scheme. Further, transactions are charged in Myanmar Kyats as mandated by Central Bank of Myanmar, so cardholders do not have to worry about being charged in foreign currencies.
