uab bank partnered Media 7 to launch ‘Money Hunt’ – first SME competition reality TV program

The 10-episodes series will see 14 selected SMEs competing to win the grand prize of MMK 30 mil seed funding, up to MMK 100 mil loan financing without the need for collateral, industry expert consultation and business support by uab bank

Yangon, 3rd January 2021 – SMEs and entrepreneurs are often seeking ways to grow their businesses and uab bank wants to help them do just that with the launch of ‘Money Hunt’ with Media 7 – Myanmar’s first SME Competition reality TV program. The 10-episodes reality TV Program will see SME business owners and entrepreneurs from across the country pitching their ideas and business plan for the opportunity to win MMK 30 mil seed funding and up to MMK 100 mil financing without collaterals from uab bank and professional business consultation with industry experts. The aim of the program is to support the development of SMEs and entrepreneurs in Myanmar, encourage innovation and nurture entrepreneurs and SMEs to become future corporates that will benefit the country and community.

To enter the ‘Money Hunt’ SME Competition, SME business owners must answer the question, “How will you grow your business?” by submitting the application form via email, video or uab bank branches nationwide. 14 finalists will be selected based on their creativity and business strategy to enter the ‘Money Hunt’ SME Competition where they will be pitching to the judges during the final event at uab Tower @ Times City in Feb 2021.

The panel of expert judges and mentor for the “Money Hunt” includes U Ne Aung (Chairman of uab bank), Mr Christopher Loh (MD & CEO of uab bank), U Lwin Moe (Chairman of Paradiso Cinema Group) and U Naing Phyo Kyaw (Chairman of MG Myanmar and Co-Founder of Media 7). Guest judges include Daw Kyawt Kay Khaing (Deputy CEO of uab bank), Daw Mu Mu Aye (Deputy Director, Head of MSME Department for Yangon Region), Daw Aye Hnin Swe (CEO of Mango Media Group), U Aung Chit Khin (Managing Director of Strategy First Education Group Ltd.), U Soe Hein (MSME Development Committee – UMFCCI and SMEBi-SME Business Institute Founder) and U Than Oo (MD of Uniteam Marine Yangon and Chairman of Myanmar Hotelier Association for Rakhine Zone).

The judges will provide all finalists with individual consultation sessions and the winner will also receive 30Mn MMK seed funding to implement and grow their business. All participants will also receive one-day interactive SME Business Planning Workshop by U Aung Chit Khin; Managing Director of Strategy First Education Group Ltd. that will provide them with both theoretical and operational practices in building SME capability and productivity.

Money Hunt SME Competition

  1. Competition is open to all existing SME owners or aspiring entrepreneurs.
  2. Entrepreneurs of all industries and ages may apply.
  3. Application must be submitted by 17th January 2021 either through email, video or via uab bank branches with required documents.
  4. Selected participants will receive an invitation to join the program.
  5. The finalists will be announced in February 2021.

Award

  1. Grand winner will receive MMK 30 mil seed funding, up to MMK 100 mil financing without collaterals and professional business consultations and advisory.
  2. 1st and 2nd Runner Up will receive up to MMK 100mil financing without collaterals and professional business consultations and advisory.
