The Thingyan festival is celebrated over 4 days and culminates with the Myanmar New year on the 5th day. Coming on some of the hottest parts of the year, the water festival is one of the most significant celebrations in Myanmar.
At the Bank, uabians were busy with employee, customer and community engagements to celebrate the festivities.
Before breaking off for the long holidays uabians at our Head Office traditionally hold a staff gathering with various Departments sharing with each other Myanmar snacks and deserts. This year, it was different with the staff gathering taking the form of a “Satu Dithar” and uabians instead donated food to whoever who had need of them.
In the meantime, at our uab branches, customers were offered “Moat Lone Yay Paw “or rice balls throughout the week before the Thingyan holidays in order to share the joy of the festival with them.
Various parts of Bank also engaged in community activities as part of their social responsibilities. The Finance Department at Head Office for instance volunteered to do a donation event at Satubonmika Monastery in Yankin Township.
Despite the long holidays, a few uab branches will be opened to ensure that assistance is available for those who require urgent banking services.
It has been a busy pre- Thingyan period for us at the Bank and to our Customers and Friends, please accept our best wishes for your Thingyan festivities.
For those travelling, our wishes for a safe journey.
