uab bank named Best Bank in Myanmar by Euromoney for the 3rd time
Yangon, 13th July 2022 – uab bank has yet again been recognised as Myanmar’s Best Bank by Euromoney, further entrenching the Bank’s position as one of the leading banks in Myanmar.
At Euromoney’s Awards for Excellence ceremony in London, the prestigious publication highlighted uab bank’s ability to deliver results despite the twin shock of the COVID-19 pandemic and political crisis in Myanmar. Euromoney noted that despite the circumstances, the Bank had one of the lowest cost to income ratios amongst banks in Myanmar signalling uab bank having done exceptionally well in cost and in efficiency.
Christopher Loh, uab bank’s CEO who received the award in London during the award ceremony on 13th July 2022 said, “It is particularly gratifying to receive this award for the 3rd consecutive time and Euromoney’s decision is a vote of confidence on the Bank’s strategy and sustainability as we emerge from a difficult period”.
He also remarked, “Since its transformation in 2017, the Bank has year-on-year produced impressive results with consistent growth and profitability whilst withstanding shocks in the local and international markets. We have been able to show agility in responding to the many economic and regulatory changes over the last few years and emerge as successful leaders of change in Myanmar. The future is in brands that are agile, strong and reliable and uab bank will be precisely this”.
The Award comes as part of the Bank’s 12th anniversary celebrations and the Bank announced a rice donation campaign in August 2022 at all its branches as its support to the economically poorer members of the community.
