Precautions taken with coronavirus infection

Yangon, 11th September 2020 – uab bank confirms that one employee at Head Office has been infected with coronavirus. In a finding issued by the MOHS on 11th September 2020 at 08:00 PM, an employee of uab bank was found to be a COVID-19 confirmed patient.

The employee had been tested on 10th September 2020 and the Bank has been informed of the result confirmation on 11th September. We will be making a report to the Township General Administration Office. The Bank will provide the employee and her family with the necessary support required.

The employee has been working in the uab bank’s Head Office, uab Tower @ Times City, and had limited customer contact. Since the increase in number of COVID-19 patients in Yangon from the 2nd wave, we have instructed all Departments and Branches to reduce the number of staff in the work place and follow social distancing measures as prescribed by Ministry of Health and Sports. Accordingly, at Head Office, 50% staff were asked to “Work From Home” on alternate basis.

The subject employee was on “Work From Home” duty since 8th Sept 2020, and this has helped minimize contact with other colleagues. In the meantime, we have already conducted contact tracing with all employees and other parties and informed them to stay in Home Quarantine (14 days) starting from the day of the MOHS announcement. We also arranged to disinfect an entire Head Office (Including common areas such as lifts, lobby, lounge and toilets), in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines.

At uab bank branches, the necessary precautionary measures were conducted, and these include:

  • Face masks, gloves and hand sanitizers were distributed and placed at premises
  • It has been mandatory for the employees and customers to wear a mask all the time
  • Maintain social distancing
  • Register and record visitors name, contact, address
  • Encourage customers to go digital (uab mobile, SaiSai Pay, uabpay and uab online banking)

Once this pandemic started in March 2020, uab bank activated its Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and formed a Crisis Control Unit (CCU). With this 2nd wave, the CCU continues to monitor and evaluate the situation very closely and ensures that the health and safety issues at the Bank is being taken care of.

Please rest assured that the health, safety and well-being of our employees, customers and visitors are our top priority. uab bank Management is strictly following health advisory and guidelines issued by MOHS on the prevention of COVID-19, together with the guidelines/instruction from Central Bank of Myanmar regarding banking and the operations of its branches.
